GREEN PEAS CDC Striker & CDC Sage CDC Sage and CDC Striker were released from the Crop Development Centre breeding program and to date have shown to be a the best bleach resistant varieties, while providing competitive yield comparisons to other green pea varieties. Both have good lodging resistance and CDC Sage is powdery mildew resistant which give it agronomic advantage to the CDC Striker. Sage is becoming the variety of choice for growers who want a bleach resistant variety with powdery mildew resistance.

YELLOW PEAS CDC Meadow CDC Meadow was released from the Crop Development Centre. It is similar in characteristics to CDC Bronco and CDC Golden and is a high yielding, powdery mildew resistant yellow pea in Saskatchewan. CDC Meadow has excellent lodging resistance and seed coat durability. This variety is the first of a new generation of yellow peas to be released that show a marked improvement over older varieties such as CDC Mozart and Cutlass. CDC Meadow has better lodging resistance than CDC Bronco which leads to fewer problem with Mycosphaerella blight in years with high disease pressure. CDC Meadow is among the highest yielding powdery mildew resistant yellow peas in Saskatchewan and will very quickly be adapted by the Saskatchewan growers.

CDC TOGO
CDC Togo is a new glabourous (hairless) canaryseed. This variety from the Dr. Pierre Hucl's program at the Crop Development Center is showing an impressive yield increase over CDC Maria of about 12%. This means you can now grow canaryseed without the irritating itch and also not have a yield penalty. Many growers tried CDC Maria but switched back to the old varieties because of the reduced yield. CDC Togo will rapidly replace acres of other varieties because given the choice; everyone in the canaryseed industry including growers, processors, and end uses will prefer the glabourous canayrseed to the conventional varieties.
